Progress, Panic, and One Very Expensive Fishing Trip
Gizmo Goldscrap cracks open the ledger for week two of Midnight Season 2 — and the numbers, much like the guild's collective impulse control, are all over the place. Week two is closed, the books are open, and I've got thoughts.
Some of you took my notes from last week to heart. Progress across the board, roles filled, scores climbing — the kind of week that makes an accountant almost sentimental. Almost.
Others treated week one's momentum like a receipt you can lose in the bottom of a bag. We'll get to that. Lovingly. With footnotes.
Let's open the ledger.
Raiding
Three heroic kills this week: The Twin Fangs, Sszorak, and The Lost Explorers all went in the loss column — theirs, not ours.
Current project: The Coiled Altar (Heroic). Best pull sits at 50.88% remaining after 13 attempts. Translation for those of you who don't speak spreadsheet: the boss is still very much alive, but the trend line is pointed the right direction. Thirteen pulls isn't a grind, it's a warm-up. Keep stacking attempts.
Three bosses down, one in progress, zero excuses. Good week on the raiding ledger.
Guild Chatter
Reporting was up this week, and the ledger appreciates it. Keep the intel coming — a Chief Ledger Officer runs on gossip the way a tank runs on cooldowns.
Speaking of running low: 4-Set Pete opened the week in crisis. His exact words, submitted as evidence: "this is great, i literally have been super unlucky and have 0 tier as of now. i do have a curio, but thats chilling as the joker filler piece. i dont think i've had a more unlucky start to a season, ever." A moving statement. Genuinely moved me, right up until the update came in that the situation has been rectified and Pete is, in fact, back. Filed under: problems that solve themselves if you complain loudly enough.
Neek, meanwhile, delivered the quote of the week without even trying: "shit is a sliding scale from pooey fingers to neck deep." I have no notes. That's just good accounting.
Tier set reporting also hit a rough patch this week. Faerlina and Kara both listed their pieces as Head, Shoulders, and — I'm reading this directly off the form — "knees and toes." I've checked every known loot table in this raid tier. Knees and toes are not on it. I don't know what you two are wearing, but it isn't tier gear.
Kara did have kind words for last week's article, on record as "Idk dude my praises were sung. Minus tanking, getting to that at some point." Noted, filed, and I will absolutely be checking back on that "some point."
Neek also clarified his season plans early: "I havent signed up this season bc Im a realist and Im not gonna be tanking or healing, I never do it even when I sign up for it." Respect for the self-awareness. Zero respect for what came next.
Because there's a new feature request on my desk: a Gizmo challenge built entirely around fishing. And before anyone gets excited, I already know why it was submitted. Fine. I'll say it out loud so nobody has to keep asking. Neek got the achievement for catching 50,000 fish. Happy now? That's fifty thousand. An entire raid tier's worth of attempts, spent on a lake.
Weekly Scores
Multi-role progress — in good standing:
Faerlina did the work on all three roles this week, and the healer line deserves its own headline: 1509.7 to 2998.3. That's not progress, that's a resurrection. DPS and tank both climbed too. 94.4% toward Keystone Hero Supreme. This is the standard. Everyone else, take notes.
Kara posted the single biggest number on the entire ledger — Lorian's tank went from a flat, embarrassing 0 to 2643.8 in one week. Every role moved. Ranged, melee, tank, healer, all green. 96.9% toward Keystone Hero Supreme+. You are one push away. Finish it.
Nick deserves a separate line entirely, because he did something almost nobody else on this ledger was willing to do: he tanked. Fanzel's tank score went from 727.9 to 2144.9 — a 1417-point swing on the role everyone else in this article is quietly avoiding. I caught the footage. He's good at it. DPS moved too. Healer's still untouched, but two roles including the tank slot is more spine than most of this guild has shown this season.
Single-role focus — one character carrying, the rest freeloading:
Xytrixz put up the loudest DPS number of the week — 653 to 2131.4 — and I'd be more impressed if the other two roles weren't sitting there doing nothing. Tank didn't move a single point. Healer barely twitched. You clearly know how to play this game. Prove it on the other two characters instead of parking them.
Klara moved two of four roles. Melee and tank are both still reading zero — not low, zero, as in never logged in. Half a ledger entry isn't a ledger entry.
Marty gets partial credit — a DPS character went from 0 to 325.8, so someone finally showed up — but the tank slot is still an empty line item. One character doing the heavy lifting while another sits fully unplayed isn't balance, it's favoritism.
Needs an intervention:
Rantheza moved one role out of four. Melee is genuinely good — 1738.6 to 2657, no complaints there. But range, tank, and healer are all still sitting at zero, exactly where they started week one. That's not a slow start anymore, that's three-quarters of an account gathering dust. Pick a character. Any character. Log in. The ledger is patient, not infinite.
Outro
Good week two. Green ink across most of the ledger, a few overdue accounts, and one very expensive fishing habit. That's par for the course around here.
Keep it up. The Coiled Altar isn't going to kill itself, and neither is that tank slot going to fill itself in, Rantheza.
And if you're reading this from the outside, still not signed up — the door's open. It's never too late to join. Log in with your Battle.net account, grab the invite code pinned in the mythic+ channel on Discord, and get on the ledger.
Ready. Set. Go.
